The 30 summer idioms and sayings in this activity pack give your adult ESL students the language they need for talking about the hot season. The variety of worksheet and activity types ensures there’s something for everyone in your class. Idioms about summer and heat are the perfect addition to adult ESL classes because they help make it possible to respond to questions like “Is it hot enough for you?” and complain about the humidity by saying it’s like walking through soup.

With this, your students will learn 30 idioms and expressions that they might hear or want to use. They’ll be practicing and reviewing all 30 with activities that make the terms memorable. These pages will be the ones that go home with them, not get tossed in the trash on their way out at the end of class.

Idioms are the kind of everyday English that fluent speakers use without thinking twice but present a roadblock to people learning English. That’s why your students need to understand that being full of hot air doesn’t actually describe a summer day. Once they get that, they can start having fun making figurative language part of their daily communication.
