Your adult ESL students will get structure practice with conditionals. These 55 grammar conversation cards will give your students grammar practice through real conversation. Each card presents a question designed to make students think, respond using conditionals (zero, first, second, and third), and elaborate naturally when classmates ask follow-up questions.

You want this because you need something between worksheets and aimless "free conversation" that goes nowhere. These cards give students the structure to practice conditionals correctly while giving them the freedom to take conversations deeper when they want to.

WHAT'S INSIDE this 55-card set:

✅ 55 conversation prompt cards covering zero, first, second, and third conditionals

✅ Teacher instructions with setup and turn-taking options

✅ PDF format (print and cut for classroom use)

HOW THE CARDS WORK

Each card has a question that requires a conditional response. Students draw a card, read the prompt, and answer using a complete conditional sentence. Classmates can ask follow-up questions to push for more detail.

Example prompt: "What would happen if your teacher didn't show up tomorrow?" Student response: "I would go home and take a nap if my teacher didn't show up to class tomorrow." Follow-up: "Why?" or "And then what?"

The questions range from reflective and serious to funny and unexpected.

THIS WAS MADE FOR YOUR HIGH-BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS

Your students have studied conditionals. They can probably pass a test on them. But can they use them in a real conversation? That's where the gap is.

These cards bridge grammar knowledge and real communication. Students practice forming conditional sentences correctly while talking about topics that interest them. The structure keeps them using the grammar while the conversation keeps them engaged.

This works for students who prefer structured activities and students who beg for free conversation. Both groups get what they need.
